Katelyn Williams
MA, LPC-S, RPT-S, NCC
Katelyn Williams MA, LPC-S, RPT-S, NCC has a passion for helping teens, young adults and families, who are looking for deeper relationships, personal acceptance, increased self-worth, and life satisfaction. Whether struggles come from family dynamics, stress, grief, trauma, or simply looking to “get more out of life”, Katelyn works with clients to build resiliency, stronger connections/relationships, and to identify coping skills that work for the client, in the context of their situation.
Katelyn offers a friendly, approachable, and relaxed environment for clients to process and work through the difficult situations and points of personal internalized dissatisfaction. She works from a Person-Centered, Cognitive Behavorial, and Choice Theory approach, with consideration of factors, such as family, culture, and community, and the impact of those elements on the individual. Katelyn believes that a strong relationship with her clients is one of the cornerstones to successful therapy, and works with clients to build that connection through humor, honesty and expressive arts. Working in schools has given her a great ability to help clients navigate complex programs and situations with creativity and persistence.
Katelyn’s education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling, both from Texas State University. She has also earned the distinction of National Board Certified Counselor (NCC). The LPC-S designation allows her the opportunity to supervise and mentor LPC-Associates who are finished with graduate school and starting their journey to becoming a fully licensed therapist. In addition to working as a middle school and high school counselor, Katelyn has worked with clients with special needs, teens, teen parents, adults and couples, in a variety of settings, and has been trained in TBRI (Trust-Based Relational Intervention), Beck CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and Gottman Level 1 and Level 2 techniques. Her desire to promote healthy relationships and strong family support systems has led her to pursue working with families in conflict and adult couples (specifically for parent coaching), in addition to working with kids, teens, and young adults.
Through many family adventures, Katelyn has fostered a love for travel, and enjoys exploring new cities and cultures. Katelyn has been a resident of Austin for over 10 years, and spends much of her free time listening to live music, hiking the greenbelt with her husband and son, and engaging in the arts (painting, crafting, writing, etc.). Whether you have attended therapy throughout your life, or are just getting started, Katelyn makes clients feel comfortable with the process, and works to help clients get the most out of each session!
